DCH Auto Group's roots began in the late 1930's when current chairman Shau-wai Lam’s father, B.Y. Lam, started a trading company in Shanghai and later established Dah Chong Hong Limited in Hong Kong. He then traveled to New York City in 1948 and opened an American subsidiary, DCH (USA), which initially specialized in commodity trading and the importation of food and clothing.
In 1977, DCH (USA) shifted its focus to the automotive dealership business, and in 1992, the Lam family and the Wing On Group of Hong Kong jointly acquired this American subsidiary, after the Hong Kong parent was sold to another company. Today, DCH Auto Group has more than 27 new and used car dealerships in New Jersey, New York,Connecticut, and California, offering such distinguished automobile brands as Acura, Audi, BMW,Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Kia, Honda, Lexus, Nissan, Scion and Toyota. We are the largest automotive group in New Jersey, and among the top ten auto groups in the United States in terms of new vehicle retail sales. DCH Auto Group has received numerous awards inside and outside the auto industry for exceptional sales and service and for contributions to business and the community.

In 1988, Lam was appointed President of DCH and continued to the lead the company’s expansion to 27 dealerships in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and California. Under his leadership DCH has become the largest automobile retailer in New Jersey and one of the largest in the United States. He has set the tone for each dealership to thrive, instilling a corporate culture committed to innovation, integrity and superior customer service.
We truly thank Mr. Lam and DCH for all the support he has provided to the team for the past 25 years. The team would not be where it is now without his continued belief and support in us. Not only is DCH Racing about dragon boating, but more importantly it is about providing an outlet to the community in developing young upstanding individuals through the DCH way. The dragon boat team will continue to work in building the legacy in return for many years to come.
